Our Story
Renowned orange county restaurateur David Wilhelm, along with longtime friend and partner Gregg Solomon, own and operate this charming downtown San Juan Capistrano overlooking the Jewel of the California missions.
The menu features many of his signature classic comfort foods such as his Famous Buttermilk Fried Chicken, French 75’s Onion Soup, and Whiskey Shrimp Dijon, featured at his Tavern House kitchen+bar in Newport Beach.

Tavern at the Mission has a large, tree covered, pet friendly patio with views of the beautiful Jewel of the Mission. The chandelier lit dining room has a large, centrally located fireplace and also enjoys view of the Mission. Our’ Tumbleweed Bar’ is designed as an homage to San Juan Capistrano’s Equestrian and Vaqueros history.

Cowboy Night Thursdays

We love cowboys, cowgirls and cowboy hats! Mosey on in Thursday evenings to our Tumbleweed Bar & Patio wearing your cowboy hat, and enjoy half price off select beers, well drinks and wines by the glass all night. We will also be offering our popular Prime Half Pound, ‘Cowboy Burger’ and spinning Country Western songs throughout the night. Join us every Sunday Brunch out on our sundrenched, tree covered, pet friendly Patio, celebrating with friends and family and enjoying the sounds of Smooth Jazz performed by a local legend, Mike Hamilton. Early Sunday Suppers
Starting at 3pm
Early Sunday Suppers have always been a tradition for us in winding down the weekend, so we are introducing it at Tavern at the Mission. We are featuring some of David Wilhelm’s favorite comfort food dishes served with a choice of our Clam Chowder, French Onion Soup or House Tavern Greens for a great price of $28. We start serving at 4:00 PM so call for a reservation or just walk-in with your family and friends and enjoy!
